Gracie Barra H.B. Instructor Class

instrcr-class.jpg

Yesterday Friday March 5th,  was our first of 14 weeks of an Instructor class.  Students will be in a 14 week program training to be able to teach.  This is a great opportunity to learn the details of technique and help others on there journey to black belt and beyond.

This well be an awesome class and will help, if in the future students wish to open there own academy or just want to be able to help the Proffessor in the classes.

Look forward to seeing you guys on the mats.

Gracie Barra Huntington Beach In-House Tournament?Changed date!

019.jpg

Gracie Barra H.B. is going to have another in-house tournament. Many students have asked for more of these and we know everyone has a great time spending more time on the mats together.

Some of the students are preparing for the 2010 Pan American Jiu Jitsu tournament in April.  This will give them a great opportunity to get a chance to prepare the mental state of competing.

This in-house tournament is open to all students, competitors or not.  It is nice to try it out even if you do not have the desire to compete.  It is a friendly environment with the students you train with everyday.  So make sure to mark your calendars for Sunday March 14th.  We will begin at 10 a.m and discuss rules first.

Sign up sheet will be by the desk.

Thanks and any questions, feel free to ask any staff member.

It is great to see that many students from different religions, race and social status can get together and  help each other grow not only as martial artists but as better people outside of the mats.  We have so many kind and helpful students and parents that keep our school running.  We hope to see all of you continue to progress and we hope that youre journey will continue way beyond your black belt.

With in the past couple of months, Proff. Jerry has had the honor to promote several of his students to blue, purple and even brown.  What a joy it is to see the students progress through the ranks, giving both time sweat and great effort into their training.

Yesterday Proff jerry let us know the importance of the belt and the signification of the belts.  Per Proff. Jerry, Master Carlos had said the purple belt is the most important belt because the blue weeds the individuals out.  The purple signifies the fact that an individual is not only closer to the black, but that more importantly, the individual has what it takes to make jiu jitsu a life long journey.  Our hope is to see all of our students, from little champs to our adults, make it to purple because then we know you will not give up this awesome lifestyle.  Train hard and well see you on the mats!
